Photography is an interesting medium. Like freezing moments in time. For those of us who experience an event first hand, the photograph can bring up an array of emotions, from fear to joy, nostalgia to heartache. But the interesting thing is, the photograph can do the same thing for people who were never even there.
We see a picture of a family of drifters from the Dust Bowl and are immediately stricken with a sadness and empathy for these people. It matters not that we've never met them, that they may have been dead for decades. A picture speaks to us in ways that no language has words to.
